Presented by Craig Underwood, Emeritus Professor of Spacecraft Engineering, University of Surrey. Craig has over 40 years’ experience in space systems engineering and has worked on numerous small satellite missions, where he has been responsible for mission analysis, ground-station development, thermal design and radiation effects analysis. In his research, he specialised in sensors and instrumentation for radiation detection, optical imaging and spectroscopy, and radar remote sensing. While he no longer supervises PhD students, he continues to teach as an Associate Tutor, and since his retirement, he has also developed and taught more than 40 Day Schools on Earth Observation/Geoscience, Lunar and Planetary Exploration and Aerospace Engineering topics at the Guildford Institute. Craig has been a Fellow of the British Interplanetary Society since 1987, and a full Member of the International Academy of Astronautics since 2020. |
